CERVICO-VERTEBRAL DISEASE

Cervico-vertebral disease refers to the damage and the subsequent changes of the cervical-vertebral joint and its surrounding cartilage, ligaments, muscles, tendons and membranes. Such damage and trauma are caused by the deterioration of the cervico-inter-vertebral disc. It can result as joint hyperplasia, narrowing of space between vertebrae, stimulation and pressure on nerve-endings, and other various symptoms from spine marrow, vertebral arteries, and surrounding nerves and tissues.

Causes include prolonged fixed postures and stress. Symptoms include: Neck and shoulder pain, nerve root numbness and pain, spinal column numbness in the extremities (legs, arms, fingers), vertebral artery restrictions resulting in dizziness, headache, and eyesight deterioration, neuropathy: pressure in the chest and irregular heartbeat, sensivity to cold, irregular heartbeat, urinal and/or fecal discharge system dysfunction, or any combination of the conditions listed above.

Non-surgical treatments include physiotherapy, hand manipulation, medication, fixed or restricted neck movements, massage, acupuncture, needle-blade treatment, herbal medicine treatment, etc. Though these treatments have some positive effect, the disease can relapse easily and they have limited effect on patients with late-stage disease. Surgical treatment recommended are Acupuncture microsurgery.

FEMUR NECROSIS
Femur necrosis refers to the damage of blood vessels to the femur. It results in insufficient blood supply to the femur and subsequently causes damage induced joint inflammation. Non-bacteria femur necrosis is the most common form and its clinical symptoms are lower back aches, restriction of the muscles in the concerned leg, spasmodic inward contraction and deformities. The majority of cases result in muscle atrophies and dislocation of the pelvic joints.

Alternative treatments include Acupuncture microsurgery which can reduced the inner pressure of the joings, reduce the inner pressure of the femoral bone, and reduce the pressure exerted by muscles in between the femoral bone and the pelvic joints. The microsurgery significantly reduces pain of the sufferers and improves pelvic movement. The surgery only requires localized anesthesia, leaves only a pin-sized wound and leads to a faster recovery.

LUMBAR INTER-VERTEBRAL DISC PROTRUSION
Lumbar Inter-Vertebral Disc Protrusion Lumbar disk disease is a frequent source of low back pain. Sciatica is defined as neuralgia along the course of the sciatic nerve. Whether spinal manipulation (ie, chiropractic care) improves the rate of recovery in patients with disk disease is controversial. Multiple surgical techniques have been used in patients with disk herniation who have not responded to conservative therapies. These therapies include diskectomy, spinal fusion, and injection of chymopapain. Newer techniques continue to be developed

The change in nature of the inter-vertebral disc, the breaking of fiber-rings, and the protrusion of the marrow pith stimulating and pressing the nerve-roots and the caudal nerve when combined together is the most common cause of waist and leg pain.

Treatments for disk protrusion include acupuncture microsurgery’s “Inter-Vertebral Disc Rotation Surgery,” performed under X-ray locator to rotate inter-vertebral disc to loosen and separate nerves. This surgery reduces damage to the minimum, has no open cut, no removal of the inter-vertebral disc and is effective and painless.

The unique effect of“Inter-Vertebral Disc Rotation Surgery” on lumbar inter-vertebral disc protrusion is the fruit of Prof Huang Shu’s in-depth study and investigation of the inter-vertebral disc over the years. Prof Huang introduced a new theory to inter-vertebral diseases. This combined with clinical and medical research is a procedure with very special effects on lumbar inter-vertebral disc protrusion diseases. It can even cure patients who relapsed after operations or other failed treatments.

The surgery is performed with the help of an X-ray locator using only localized anesthesia. It uses a special rotational medical instrument to reach into the vertebral column and adjust the pressure on the inter-vertebral disc, and accurately separate the stuck parts to relieve pressure on the vertebral nerve. The whole surgery only takes about 30 minutes.

OSTEO-ARTHRITIS (Knee and Joint Pain)
Osteo-arthritis (knee-joint pain) is a chronic arthritic disease. The main causes are the deterioration of cartilage and the recurrence of hyperosteogeny. Middle-aged persons, senior citizens, and females are prone to this ailment. The disease is mostly incurred by relatively large joints that are subjected to heavy loads (e.g. knee-joints, hips, spine, shoulder, and fingers).

The causes of arthritis are very complicated. It may be a composite of the factors listed below: reduced nutrition supply to cartilage during aging, abnormal metabolism, stress, accumulated damage over time, obesity (especially for people 50 years old or above) increases load on joints. The pain worsens when performing physical activities

1. Inflexibility and rigidness felt in the morning
2. Swelling and even physical deformities in affected body areas in long-term situations.

Treatment Methods:
Currently, there are 4 commons types of treatments:

1. Physiotherapy and rest focus on protection. These are large ineffective.
2. Medical treatments include Chinese traditional medicine for exterior application, oral pain killers, and joint-socket injections to alleviate symptoms. However, these treatment generally provide short-term relief.
3. Conventional surgical operations
4. Acupuncture Microsurgery offers minimum damage and suffering, quick recovery, and has no side effects. It offers the following relief of osteo-arthritis:

Our department will normally use acupuncture microsurgery and joint lens surgery.
PROSTATE CARE
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is the most common form of prostate disease, and commonly happens to men between the ages of 50-70. BPH is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland. If BPH left untreated for a prolonged period of time, it may cause serious problems with the function of the bladder and kidneys.

Prostatitis is an inflammation of the prostate gland. It can be a result of bacterial or non-bacterial infections. It is another form of prostate disease. Symptoms include delayed urination, urgent urination, weak and poorly directed streams of urine, uringary retention and dribbling, frequent urination, painful ejaculation, or sexual impotence.

Conventional treatments include: Oral drugs which can help improve BPH and prostatitis symptoms, but long-term use would have side-effects, and patients tend to rely on drugs. Once the drug is stopped, symptoms may come back. Antibiotics are used to treat bacterial prostatitis. Some men can get relief from their symptoms using antibiotics. If there is an underlying cause of prostatitis, such as stones or tumors, these should be removed first, before taking antibiotics. But long-term use of antibiotics can cause side-effects.

Other treatments include: Currently treatments in use include: Laser Therapy, Transurethral Microwave Thermotherapy (TUMT), High Intensity Focused ultrasound (HIFU), Transurethral Electro - Vaporization (TUVP), Transurethral Needle Ablation (TUNA), Physiotherapy. All these methods of treatment can help, in certain degree, reduce symptoms, but suffers would have un-comfortable experience and may have side-effects (such as blood bleeding, blood pressure and urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction and retrograde ejaculation and pains). Also these methods are selective to patients and are not always successful.

Prostatectomy is the surgical removal of the whole prostate gland. It is not often considered for treatment of prostatitis because of its side-effects.

Bio-Natural Therapy
The TCM Natural Therapy integrates the therapeutic effects of herbal extracts with Chinese massage and meridian pressure. The herbal extract as a massaging agent is for external use only on the skin. No oral drugs, injections and surgery are required in the treatment. All herbs are collected from pollution free areas, and the extract is free of man-made chemicals, toxin and 100% safe without side effects.
SHOULDER PERI-ARTHRITIS
Shoulder Peri-arthritis is commonly known as shoulder ache or adhesive shoulder. It is an inflammation related to the slow damage of muscles, tendons, synovial and artery sockets around the shoulder. The interior and exterior shoulder joints are bound together causing pain when excercising and hence restricting shoulder functions.

Shoulder Peri-arthritis mostly afflicts people who are over 40 years old and above. The main causes hormonal changes, deterioration of soft tissues and weakened immunity against external factors. Excessive exercise and bad posture will slowly damage the shoulder and lead to this condition. Prolonged

Other causes of shoulder peri-arthritis include: cervical-vertebral, heart, lung, and gall-bladder diseases may also contribute to stretching pain around the shoulder. If the above conditions are not adequately treated, pain around the shoulder will persist leading to blood shortage around the shoulder, and eventually, shoulder peri-arthritis.

STIFF VERTEBRAL COLUMN INFLAMMATION
Stiff vertebral column inflammation is a spinal disease caused by a slow and progressive arthritic disease of multiple-occurences. In most cases it begins from the sacrum and hipbone joints and goes gradually upwards to the entire vertebral column, the peri-vertebral issues, the large joints on the outside of the spinal column and eventually leads to stiffness and rigidity of the bones of the spine.

Symptoms include inflammation of the spinal column from a persistent low fever, loss of taste, lack of strength, and weight loss, morning stiffness, hip-back-side-neck-chest pain, thrombotic phlebitis, and other conditions. Conventional treatments include physiotherapy, massage, surgery, ph

In addition to herbal medicine treatments, physiotherapy, and fuctional training, Beijing Huangshu TCM Hospital offers Acupuncture microsurgery trainingvertebrae.
